It appears my attempts to report the Greater White-fronted Goose and Cackling
Goose I saw on Sunday Dec 10th on the Tennessee River south of Knoxville from
the field came through garbled. So much for trying to get reports out in a
timely manner! I was birding from kayak, and it was cold. Strange also that
the posting times on the reports are incorrect: I saw the White-fronted at
about 10 a.m. and the Cackling at about 11 a.m.
The Greater White-fronted Goose was with ~70 Canada Geese on the west shoreline
between Cherokee Country Club and Lakeshore Park. Not really any access to
where they were from the west side, but might be possible to scan that area
from the opposite side of the river.
The Cackling Goose with about 100 Canada Geese was further downstream near
Turtle Point/Jones Cove (just N of Buckhead Trail). Not sure there is any
public access from the end of Turtle Point road, but that would be the closest.
Again, might be possible to scan from the east side.
Photos of both birds are posted on ebird:

These geese probably move up and down the river between UT Plant Sciences Farm
and Cherokee Farm, so could easily show up at Cherokee Farm or Lakeshore Park
where there is easier access.
