New birds for the year continue to come daily to our yard in West Knoxville. Thursday we heard and today I saw the first RED-EYED VIREOs, 2 or 3 of them in fact. This morning, I heard a "hoarse robin" a ways back in the woods. Grabbed my shoes and ran out back into the woods in time to get a quick look at my first SCARLET TANAGER of the year. Warblers today included Yellow-rumped, Ovenbird and the first PALM WARBLERs (2-3) since this winter. At least 10-15 Chipping Sparrows continue to rule the neighborhood. Got a look at a Ruby-crowned Kinglet this morning as well, fairly rare bird for our yard.
