I've tried the sprinkler trick in the past with no takers other than an
occassional titmouse, but this week I seem to have hit the magic recipe.
Visitors today (1 Sept, west Knox Co) included:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird, 6 or more taking turns fighting over sprinkler
and feeder
Red-eyed Vireo, at least 4, some getting so wet as to be almost unrecognizable
Yellow-throated Vireo, 1
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, 1, FOF
Chestnut-sided Warbler, 2
CAPE MAY WARBLER, 1 adult male, FOF and first northern breeder, new early
fall date for the yard by 7 days, came in a looked but didn't bathe
American Redstart, 1
Hooded Warbler, 2
plus several titmice and chickadees.
