east Blount County, Tennessee Feb 8, 2006 Hi folks, On the way to work today I was surprised to see 2 Common Ravens further west than I've ever seen them in this area before. Seeing ravens in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is not terribly unusual, and one can sometimes find them on the Foothills Parkway West, which is south of Walland, TN. But these 2 guys were flying about 20 feet over the south bound lanes of US 321 just west of where the parkway and 321 cross. It appeared that they were following the road, which I've seen before both here and in the western US. I've read that they are seeking road kill, which seems to make sense to me. I also saw one in Townsend (also Blount County) a few weeks ago for my 3rd record in that town in 5+ years.
