We had our first EVER Purple Finch in our yard yesterday (10/28). I
have tried many times to turn our numerous House Finches into Purples,
to no avail. So we were really pleased to see a real, live, male
Purple Finch on the feeder and in the bird bath. Maybe he'll stay
around for the winter.

Another nice sighting: a Cooper's Hawk in the yard this morning. Maybe
it'll eat some of the House Sparrows :-)

Cheers,

Laura McCall
