The Songbird Trail below Norris Dam in Anderson County, TN continues to be a
great place to see migrating songbirds this September. I birded it from 9:35
a.m. until 2:50 p.m. today, September 22. Highlights included a Canada Warbler
with a very faint necklace (indicating an immature female, I believe) and an
Ovenbird (quite a surprise). The Ovenbird was low in the trees by the river,
just a few yards from the bottom of the stairs that go down to the short trail
there. It popped up ahead of me as I began to walk the lower trail toward the
dam, perched on a branch and posed for me for a minute or so, allowing me great
looks.
