On TUESDAY 22 MAY 2007 the Elizabethton Bird Club will look for Whip-poor-wills
on Rich Mtn. in Unicoi Co., TN. We will meet in Erwin first to eat at River's
Edge Restaurant at around 7:00 pm. Those who wish may meet with Joe Mcguiness
at 6:30 pm at the U.S. Forest Service Office in Unicoi before going to the
restaurant.

This trip is over dirt roads in mountainous terrain, coming back in darkness.
We usually get back to Unicoi well after 10 pm. Vehicles with good ground
clearance are needed. We will carpool as necessary. Participants should bring
appropriate clothing for an evening in the mountains, and a source of light.

This area often produces a number of Whip-poor-wills for us to enjoy. We often
see or hear several species of birds on the trip up the mountain, including
Prairie Warblers. Owls are also expected. Other interesting animals and
plants are often encountered as well.

All are welcome to join us on our expedition. If you have questions please
e-mail me at dnldhlt@xxxxxxx . Or you may call me at (423) 483-0470, but if
you don't get an immediate answer, please call back a little later. Do not try
to leave a voice mail, as I may not get it until it's too late to do any good.
This is always a fun field trip, and thanks are due to Joe McGuiness of the
U.S. Forest Service for planning and leading this trip.
