I've edited the 30 TN CBCs that were conducted and submitted to the Audubon database this past CBC season. You can see the editorial codes I have applied by going to the C BC website- http://www.audubon.org/bird/cbc/ --and then clicking on Current Year in the left column; at the next page, select Tennessee and click on Find Count; then select the count of interest and click on Make Table; when the table comes up, scroll down and check the right column for editorial codes. If you find an ND (No Details) code applied to a species you observed on your count, please send details (i.e., description of field marks, not just time, place, etc.) to me and copy the count compiler with these; please do not write to me and ask if I need the details; just send them. If you find rare species missing that you submitted (please note, ye Memphians), be especially sure to send along the relevant details. If you are content to let ND codes stand or missing species remain missing, there is no need to send along anything. ND is not a statement of doubt about a record; it just lets future researchers know that the observation was allowed to remain by the editor despite lack of details about it; however, the absence of details will ultimately mean that any record denoted by the ND code may be viewed in future centuries with somewhat more suspicion than records that are accompanied by details.
