Late this afternoon, Angela Hoffman and I attempted to re-locate the shrike that has been seen on Hwy 321 in Blount Co, with no success. We then drove to Ft. Loudoun Dam in Blount Co., where we saw 2 Ospreys on a nest close by the lower overlook and 3 more Ospreys hunting. Would the Ospreys actually be nesting this late, or are they perhaps juveniles still hanging out? We drove across to the Tellico side of the dam so we could get better looks at the Black-crowned Night Herons that were coming in to roost (We took the road leading to the lock). We counted 12 Black-crowned Night Herons, some juvenile. There were also 4 Great Blue Herons.
