This afternoon, my mom took Nolan and I to re-find Jan Shaw's previously reported Red-throated Loon. We circled the lake and found the bird at the exact location she mentioned, and of all things a Red-necked Grebe was swimming along right beside it! Other interesting waterfowl include lots of Double-crested Cormorants on Little Elder Island and a male Red-breasted Merganser by the Pumping Station. Many swallows were flying about - a couple of Rough-wings, Trees, Barns, and Purple Martins. We confirmed Jan's calling Fish Crow. Two were together (perhaps a mated pair?) and at least one more was in a different location. There were many crows flying and walking in various locations around the lake, but I'm not skilled enough to ID them without hearing them. :) If anyone is interested, I recorded the calling Fish Crows and am willing to send the recording to you. It certainly isn't the greatest recording, but nevertheless, it's documentation! Enjoy the last of the ducks and get ready for the warblers!
