This lunchtime, three whooping cranes were seen still at Mingo Swamp near Winchester (directions available on request). Their bands were: 1. right leg red above white, left leg green above blue/black 2. right green over green left red above white 3. right red above white, left green above white. Can anyone tell me where these are likely from and where they are headed? In addition, 1 mi W of Cowan on Hwy 41 alt, mile marker 19, opposite Shaw Industries, just past burned Rolling Acres Motel small pond on the right (north) many shovellers, 1 redhead, three odd geese (some sort of Egyptian cross??) and many killdeer. Did not see much on Timms Ford lake except Boneaparts gulls, 1 common loon, a nice view of a brown creeper, huge number of black vulture and some common or garden things to round out the day.
