Dick Riesz, Congratulations! That's one I missed and have been looking for. It looks like Pleasant Hill is directly south of where I live in the Lovelady Community in Pickett County. I wonder if that one could be #214 that was spotted with four Sandhill Cranes NW of Lafayette, IN on Nov. 8, according to Operation Migration. Since the Whooping Crane is so much larger than the Sandhill Crane, I'm wondering how and where it fits in the line or V. Did you notice the position it was in? The wing beats must be slower than the Sandhills, so how could it fly in sync with the rest? Does anyone else have any ideas on this, without going into scientific logistics unfathomable to the average crane watcher?
