5/19/08 McKenzie (Carroll Co) At 6:30 this afternoon I got a visit from my Mom, saying I needed to run up to their house to look at a bird. I live in the same neighborhood, and when I walked in my Dad asked if I had White-winged Dove in TN; as soon as I looked out the window I did. The Dove came in this afternoon, and fed under a feeder just off their back porch. I took some shots through the window, and then the bird flew up into a big oak in the back yard. I was able to relocate it eventually in the oak, and watched it through the scope for about 30 minutes. It slept practically the whole time I watched, occasionally waking up and looking around, then going back to sleep. A Mourning Dove came into the tree and perched right beside it at 7:10, at which time the White-winged took flight. It flew low and around the side of the house, but wasn't seen again late this afternoon. I will be over there early in the morning. If it does come back, my parents are fine with people coming to try for it. Viewing will have to be outside. I will get some directions (hopefully the bird will return), and photos posted later tonight. Good Birding!!
