About a week ago, as I stepped out of my front door, I immediately heard the
distinctive "pit-i-tuck" of a Summer Tanager; After a few seconds of initial
excitement, I found a Mockingbird to be the culprit behind the very convincing
deception. It's pretty amazing that after presumably not hearing one for half
a year or so, the Mocker still sounded exactly like the real thing!Mike

[TN-Bird] White-eyed Vireo - NOT!Hi folks,twice in the last few days I've heard
Northern Mockingbirds doingpretty good impressions of White-eyed Vireos. I've
not yet seen orheard the mockee. Makes me wonder - do the mockers simply
rememberlast year's reportoire?Today I saw 2 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS on
my way to work, inTownsend, east Blount County. My first of year. The
Lincoln's Sparrow is still gracing our south Blount County home, and we were
finaly able to share it with friends this evening. While looking for aquatic
macroinvertebrates at Tremont, one of thekids (a 5th grader from Kansas) found
a casting of a rather largedragonfly larva. I'm guessing there must be a Common
Whitetail outthere, which neither I nor any of my coworkers has yet spied.
Orelse a bird spied it first...Tracey and I saw an adult male Green Frog at the
Maryville Greenwayyesterday.Charlie
