We had two Purple Finches on Monday- one is in the open feeder as I write - and a Pine Siskin today, so they have definitely arrived in our part of the state. A female Rose-breasted Grosbeak also appeared on Tuesday at our feeder. The female Ruby-throated Hummingbird was at the feeder yesterday but we have not been in the den today where we can see the feeder so are not sure if she is still here. Lots of White-throated Sparrows are feeding in the yard now as well as Dark-eyed Juncos. A special delight has been seeing White-crowned Sparrows. Normally we get none in the yard or else just one that appears for one day but this year we've already had two mature ones. Looks like it is going to be a good winter for sitting by the window.
