the Western Tanager is still here. He came this morning before sunrise (6:10)
fed briefly and left. He hasn't been back since. We didn't see him at all
Saturday or Sunday and I was looking before sunrise both days and frequently
during the day. The feeder activity is very low for my regulars. I think that
there is plenty of natural food and they know that there is a reliable food
source when they need it.
There is probably a good chance that he will spend the winter like he did last
winter. When the weather gets worse, I think that we will see a pattern
develop. This winter we can accommodate visitors and I will continue to post
sightings.
