One of our local "News" Stations had a piece tonight on one Bellevue subdivision concerned about West Nile Virus. http://www.wsmv.com/ - go to Bellevue Neighborhood - West Nile video to see the piece. The neighborhood "Riverwalk", is located on the Harpeth River, and they are complaining about mosquitos, and believe the problem is from a small area of cattails, and a storm water basin created when the subdivision was built. The basin holds water year-round, and is one of the few spots in Nashville that you can occasionally find shorebirds at. The neighbors want the basin drained, and larvicide sprayed everywhere along the river, in the basin, etc. Questions - are cattails really a problem? Metro seems to want to get rid of them wherever they pop up. What are the best ways to educate the public on how dangerous wholesale spraying is bad for the environment? Any other comments on the piece would be appreciated. Thanks, Jon Mann Nashville, TN __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
