I birded the Booker T. Washington S.P. and Webb Road area from 8:30 to 12:30ish today driving back and forth. The weather was off and on, but the fog lifted eventually and I got good looks at the Red- necked Grebe, Western Grebe, and Red- breasted Merganser. There were a ton of Horned Grebes around as well. Right before I left to go up to Hiwassee I saw a Red- throated Loon off of theBooker T fishing dock. It was a good morning even though it was cold and off and on rainy. Thanks to Tim Jeffers for the directions to Webb road. Hiwassee observation deck had a few ducks, and around 750 Sandhill Cranes. There were about a dozen swallows flying over the water. I believe they were Tree Swallows, but they were a little to far out to make a positive ID.
