Robbie,

Interestingly, the hummers get their revenge for having to fight for a spot
at the feeders. I have observed hummers harassing wasps at their nests and
then sticking their beak into the side of the wasp nest, presumably sucking
the larva dry. I saw one get popped by a wasp and it immediately fell to
the ground, but recovered and flew off quickly. I guess this is optimal
foraging, risky, but fruitful!

I have also been hassled by wasps at my hummer feeders. One feeder has an
insect guard with a hole in it. Wasps persist in getting all the way in
head first -- so I get my tweezers on it-- crush it's thorax and pull him
back out. Not what you would call blanket coverage riddance but I'm getting
there------one at a time.
