Walter S. Davis Blvd. Marsh Davidson Co., TN Jan. 30, 2013 noon Last Saturday, Phillip Casteel found a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE on the fence line of the far side of the lake at the Walter S. Davis Blvd. Marsh. This marsh is on the back side of the Tenn. St. U. campus. On my return from a 3 day trip to Indiana, I stopped at the marsh at noontime today and found it perched on some tall bare bushes behind the far side of the marsh between the open blue building and the white building with the gray roof. It was in view for several minutes, but eventually flew off out of sight. This is a nice find as shrikes in Davidson Co. these days are rather rare. Four duck species have continued on the small lake all winter, N. SHOVELER, GADWALL, GREEN-WINGED TEAL, MALLARD. There were also plenty of AM. COOTs.
