[TN-Bird] Unaka Mountain Road Driving Conditions?

Upper East Tennessee Birders,

I need some info. re. driving Unaka Mt. Rd.

Driving up from Erwin (SR 395) what is the road condition along Unaka Mt. Rd to 
the overlook and then past that on Red Fork Rd?

Also, does Unaka Mt. Rd and/or Red Fork Rd pass through any Spruce or Fir 
stands?
