Tameness is useless, IMHO as to determining origin for waterfowl.

Every winter in Phoenix, you can find hundreds of "tame" Wigeons, Ring-necks,
etc that come to get fed with the standard park mallards, that show no fear of
humans, come close for handouts.
Every spring, 99% of them migrate back north, but a few stick around all
summer. All clearly wild origin birds, some have found park living so
attractive they never leave.

Does these birds extreme tameness make us want to re-evaluate their "wildness,"
Âor have they just likely become acclimated to humans? ÂI don't know if the
"wild" reintroduced Trumpeters farther north sometimes show such extreme
tameness or not. ÂOther "wild" waterfowl do, including many "wild" mute swans
in Europe. Â
