We have used black oil sunflower seed exclusively for years. We have
Eastern Towhees under most all our feeders from time to time. I have probably
seen more the last two weeks than ever including a feeder that is quite a ways
from any deep brush to hide in. Black oil sunflower seed will not discourage
grackles and Red-wing Blackbirds but I am glad as I enjoy seeing them also.
