I was surprised and delighted this afternoon to find a Tennessee Warbler in
downtown Greeneville. The bird was feeding actively at about 1:15 in shrubbery
along the edge of a yard on Spencer Street, just off North Main Street. I
heard it call several times and viewed it at point-blank range with binos for
about a minute.

My latest personal date for Tennessee Warbler before today was October 30
(2004).

Also present today in Greeneville was a Dark-eyed Junco, the first I have found
this fall at low elevation. (The species breeds at high elevation in Greene
and nearby counties.)
