Tennessee NWR
Duck River Unit
Humphreys County
03/29/11
Clayton Ferrell
Counted 185 American golden plovers in one soybean field. This is by far
the most I have observed here. Shorebirds are present throughout the
bottoms with other large groups of golden plovers present. Unfortunatly no
time to count them. The area around Honey Pt Ferry Rd had large numbers of
shorebirds using the flooded corn and soybean fields. The bottoms are open
to foot traffic.
They should be open to vehicle traffic by this coming weekend as flood
waters recede.
