I drove out there around 12:30 this afternoon. The gate was closed so I sat in
my car for about 20 minutes and scanned the sky but did not see the kite. Will
have to try again now that I know it's still around.

TN-birders,
Thanks to a tip from Kelly Roy while we were away last week,
we found out about a Swallow-tailed Kite reported at the Oliver Springs airport
a few days ago.
Dollyann and I went over there about 10:30 this morning and
Dollyann spotted it soaring over the open fields at the very south end of the
property. This was from the gravel entrance road at the south end of the
airport
property. When we were there the gate was open. Access is from Airport Road. If
the gate is closed, you could park on the entrance road and walk along airport
road to see into the airport property and scan the sky. There is another road
on
the east side of the airport property and the airport can be seen scanned from
a
few places along there as well.
Great birding,
