Stopped by Fowler Road Irrigation Pond (Lincoln County) this afternoon after a
work day at Tims Ford Reservoir. There are now a lot of water birds present at
that location. Best bird was a distant Surf Scoter (luckily it flapped its
wings to rule out White-winged). Also present was a large flock of divers,
including Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Ducks, Redheads and 2 Hooded Mergansers.
Another large group was composed of puddle ducks - Mallard, Gadwall, Wigeon and
Shovelers. Non-ducks included 4 cormorants, 6 Common Loons and 24 Pied-billed
Grebes.
