President's Island and Frayser
Memphis, Shelby Co. TN

On President's Island, the female Scissor-tailed Flycatcher sits tight on
her second nesting but the big surprise was finding and photographing what
appeared to be another Morning/Eurasian Collared-Dove hybrid. The bird was the
size and color of a Morning Dove but was marked like a Collared-Dove!! This is
the third such hybrid dove I've found on President's Island. The grain
storage facilities strewn all around this huge area, makes it a hot bed of
dove
activity with thousands present at any given time.

In northwest Memphis, the female Scissor-tailed Flycatcher and the Western
Kingbird pair are feeding at least 2 young. I spent a lot of time watching
them and got a few photos of both at the nest, feeding the young and carrying
off fecal sacks.

You just never know, so much for sex in the city.............
Good Birding !!!
