[tn-bird] Spotting scopes 101

TN Birders,
I'm in the market for a spotting scope and really don't know what
features are best suited for birding. Any comments on size of objective
lens, fixed magnification vs. zoom magnification, and any other
important features of spotting scopes would be appreciated.
