Raptors seen today were a respectable, for this time of year, 71 Broad-winged
Hawks, 4 Sharp-shinned Hawks; 1 Northern Harrier and 1 Merlin. Bill spotted
the Merlin at 8:53 about an hour or so before any of the rest of us arrived.
Visitors/counters today were Justin and Robin Nation from Lebanon; Bill Haley
and Jimmy & Cynthia. Justin has an incredible ability to locate distant speck
birds. Better than that, he is an up and coming superstar birder. I wasn't
having a very good day at all and had not felt like myself all day but Justin
and Robin raised my spirits. Thanks guys!!! I can't began to express the
excitement and enthusiasm that spread over the lookout once they arrived. They
not only knew their warblers but Justin chased many of them down and took
fantastic photo's as proof of what he saw in our brushy area northwest of the
area where we sit and count from. Please come back for visits next year...
