Sightings report 9 Oct 2006, Ensley Bottoms area, Memphis, Shelby county, TN
 

Location:     TVA PONDS

Observation date:     10/9/06, 400-410pm

Notes:      Kinda empty today.

Number of species:     6

Red-tailed Hawk     1

American Coot     17

Mourning Dove     3

European Starling     18

Red-winged Blackbird     22

 

Location:     TE Maxwell Lagoons

Observation date:     10/9/06,410-520pm

Notes:      Overall numbers of shore birds down from last week. Not many
birds at all in the first several ponds except starlings. The big pond was
slow until the back third where the largest groups were. About a 1000
lessors total. The back corner had the deeper water as usual and the bigger
birds were back there. This is the second day i have seen Grter Yellow Legs.
Took picts last time, no camera today. One lessor observed with only one
leg, he was keeping up with the others. Took the high road behind the big
ponds in the trees. LBJ's starting to move around alot.

Observation date:     10/9/06,520-535pm

Notes:      Water is drying up fast in all the ponds. Starlings roosting.
