Location: TN, Stiles Wastewater Treatment Plant Observation date: 4/3/08 Notes: Two days in a row with Blk Necked Stilts. Water level is up in flooded areas since more rain last night. Was able to use south entrance and went up to the settling ponds. 3 pairs of the Stilts were chasing each other around the prime grassy islands (Nest sites)while the rest were down in the flooded field edges feeding. Snipe were seen up on one of the settling ponds in good brown grassy cover hi ground. Mississippi & Wolf Rivers are all over the flood plain and then some. Visited the Stiles(North Memphis)Treatment Plant at noon. Northern most entrance near airport is flooded out as well as all the low lying fields of grass around plant and airport.Recent storms out of the SW should being bringing in some birds behind them and they have. Black-necked Stilts were quite a surprise and all paired up. Second day for mixed flock of Yellow-legs seen (yesterday at the TVA plant in SW Memphis)Wasn't able to get up to settling ponds since I ran out of time. Maybe tommorrow.
