I'm two days behind on my posts but i visited the Pits and nearby environs here
in Memphis after work. Not much but the usual suspects for this time of year.
Ensley Bottoms, Maxson Wastewater Lagoons(The Pits)/Earth Complex, Shelby, US-TN

Comments: Overcast, breezy 63 degrees, not alot going on. Dusty from the
trucks on the levee rds. Don't know where the Black-bellied Wh Ducks went only
one hen and 11 ducklings left.
18 species
Black-bellied Whistling-Duck 1 11 Juv ducklings which have not taken there
first flight yet on the center ponds.
Greater White-fronted Goose 1 Same lone injured goose from all summer
Northern Shoveler 28
American White Pelican 237 Nice big flyover flock. North to south.
Great Blue Heron 1
Bald Eagle 1 Single Juv soaring over the bottoms.
Killdeer 38
Lesser Yellowlegs 1 Single bird bobbing in the central pits by itself.
Least Sandpiper 867 Scattered thriugh out the complex.
Mourning Dove 41
American Kestrel 2
Peregrine Falcon 1 This bird came in from the tree line diving in on the
shorebirds of pit 5, singled out a single Least SP. and just barely missed as
the the little sandpiper made some bold moves zigging and zagging through the
vegetation and then finally doing a quick U-turn which got him it's escape.
Falcon then went off to a treeline perch where it was mobbed by what looked
like some blackbirds and then made a retreat to the southside of the complex.
