Cannon Rd in Bedford Co the last two days has been suprisingly a treat in
summer weather... yesterday we had 4 Scissortails flying up then
flycatching, appearing to take turns as each darted out, dangling those
long beautiful tails in the ever so slight wind. It must have been enough
of a breeze to stir up the insects for a kingbird down the wire joined in
the same insect pursuit.
Today, just when we thought the heat was going to win, a shrike flew across
the pasture. This shrike has been there on again and off again all summer.
Scissortails on West Rd have numbered up to 6 or so this summer but lately
1 usually and occasionally 1-3 more.
Belted Kingfisher also fishing in nearby farm pond.
Scissortails on West Rd and Cannon Rd was approx 5:55 and 6:05 p.m. and
shrike's appearance today was 11:54, if needed.
