Today at noon I was passing a field that had Short-eared Owls the last time I
checked, over a year ago.
No sooner had I mentioned their name, when we looked up and saw one sitting
on a telephone pole, not 100 feet away, in broad daylight!
This could potentially be one of the best spots in the state for finding
Short-eared Owls, if anyone is interested.
Take highway 10 North of Lafayette, TN, turn right on Highland church Road
just before the Kentucky line, the Owl habitat is on both sides of the road
here.
The owls spend a lot of time in both states, mostly in sight of the road.
We returned a little later in the afternoon, and found two birds.
