The storms moving through last night put down a great collection of Wind
Birds. I was jerked to a halt by the wonderful call of a Black-bellied Plover
and in the dim light my glasses fell on a bunch of large light colored birds,
WILLETS standing shoulder to shoulder!!

The morning produced 19 species of shorebirds, try as I might, I could not
round that number up to 20. Most of the back area has to be covered on foot but
the trip was worth it as I counted the following: Black-bellied Plover -4
(one in near breeding plumage), Golden-Plover - 2, Semipalmated Plover - 4,
lots of Killdeer on nests with eggs, Black-necked Stilts - 53 ( two pair
already
working on nests - 3 other pair copulating), Greater Yellowlegs ( most left
after Peregrine nailed one knocking it down but the bird recovered and headed
 north) - 15, Lesser Yellowlegs - 417 (200+ pulled out about 2 PM), Solitary
Sandpiper - 91, WILLET - 31, Spotted Sandpiper - 5, Semipalmated Sandpiper -
2, Western Sandpiper - 8 ( most in colorful attire), Least Sandpiper - 191 (
lots of color), Pectoral Sandpiper - 8 (scarce?), Dunlin - 1, Stilt Sandpiper
- 12, Short-billed Dowitcher - 7, Long-billed Dowitcher - 104, Wilson's
Snipe - 2

Good Birding !!!
