Scissor-tailed Flycatchers found to be nesting again north of Pikeville, TN. After a Chattanooga TOS Field Trip to Hinch Mountain we dropped down to Sequatchie Valley to look for the Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. On Nine Mile Road (about 9 miles north of Pikeville) we found a pair at their usual nest site on a Power pole transformer. The nest is about 2 miles west of East Valley Road (about 300 yards prior to the next north south road). The pole has 3 transformers on it and the nest is directly on top of the north transformer. The pair flew back and forth bringing food and taking away fecal sacs for the two young that were visible from the East Side of the Pole.
