We had a good movement of birds in the yard on Saturday. Warblers were: Nashville, Palm, Tennessee, Bay-breasted, and Yellow-rumped. A Yellow-billed Cuckoo, about 25 Cedar Waxwings, a Catbird, several Northern Flickers, and 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers added to our pleasure, along with White-throated, White-crowned, Song, and Chipping Sparrows. But the bird of the day was an obviously tired and incredibly beautiful Blue-headed Vireo who sat 25 feet away and just below our eye level as we watched from the deck and gave us a look for at least five minutes before it began to feed. That one Ruby-throated Hummingbird continues to come to the feeders on Sunday and appears to be in no hurry to move south. The last time we saw Rose-breasted Grosbeaks was Thursday so apparently they knew the cold front was coming.
