While participating in the Savannah, TN Christmas Bird Count in Hardin Co. on Saturday, January 4th, Ken Hansgren & I found 3 Sandhill Cranes in the Savannah Bottoms. This was the 2nd count record for this species. We also had three small groups of Lapland Longspurs amongst the thousands of Horned Larks in the bottoms. I believe the count total this year was 103 species. Other notable species found on the count included Lesser Black-backed Gull, Greater Scaup, Short-eared Owl, and LeConte's Sparrow. Hopefully Damien can post a full report later. Good birding, Mark Greene Trenton, TN =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
