This is Kentucky's 3rd Snowy Owl this winter. The first was in Grant
County, the 2nd in Henderson County, and now this one.
The close encounters you refer too are mostly from inside cars/trucks as the
bird frequents areas close to the road. It is amazingly tame, but it has
been observed hunting and apparently is in good health.
It is quite a beautiful specimen. Anyone who has time should try to see
this bird.
