On October 31st a male Rufous and an unidentified female hummingbird arrived at a private residence in Davidson County. Sandy Bivens banded the Rufous on November 4th, but the female evaded capture and close scrutiny. She departed on November 6th, but the male stayed until 5:05pm Tuesday, January 28th. During the Polar Vortex an incandescent light bulb was hung near one of the feeders and the nectar in the other feeder was frequently changed to prevent freezing. The attentive "hosts" live on Eaton's Creek Roud near Beaman Park but requested that their exact address not be published.
