[TN-Bird] Red-headed Woodpecker, Sedge & Marsh Wrens - Bells Bend Park (Davidson Co.)

We (LinnAnn Welch and I) participated in the fall count here at Bells Bend this
morning and had several highlights that are worth reporting ahead of the
official compilation. Leading off was a Red-headed Woodpecker, always an
uncommon sighting in the park. Remarkably, we tallied 14 Sedge Wrens and 3
Marsh Wrens. These two species were spotted in a variety of places including
the field just behind the outdoor center (Sedge) and the area where the
Henslow's Sparrows nested this past season (Sedge & Marsh), but the bulk of
them were seen in the SSE section of the park near the sewage treatment
structure. This part of the park has a mini wetland and the wrens appear to be
fond of the stands of Johnson grass growing nearby. In fact, at one point we
spotted four Sedge Wrens and one Marsh Wren together. It was a very memorable
sight!
