The pair of Summer Tanagers that has been gathering nest material here at
Beaman Park Nature Center is still hard at work. Well, at least the female is;
she appears to be doing all the construction. I watched for a few minutes this
morning and followed her flight to their nest site, a limb in an oak tree on
the edge of the parking lot. It's fascinating to see how the nest is being
built. So far it consists of thin fibers and is a transparent shell. I've never
seen a tanager nest so I'm looking forward to watching things progress.

Today the tanagers were joined in the garden by a pair of Great Crested
Flycatchers.
