Radnor Lake State Natural Area Davidson Co. Nashville, TN Tuesday 2009 May 12 6:50-10:15am gloriously clear I birded Radnor Lake this glorious Tuesday morning with several other local birders. We set a slow pace and went from the West parking lot to Long Bridge and back. A visiting birder from Orlando caught up to us and got 2 life warblers, a very nice gift. MAGNOLIA WARBLERs were highest in numbers, but most warbler species had only 1 or 2 seen or heard. As a group I think we ended up with 18 species of warblers, an excellent number for this late in the season. One quiet MOURNING WARBLER was seen very briefly just before Long Bridge. A male BLACKBURNIAN posed for great looks at Bench 18. Retracing our steps to the dam an OSPREY attempted a fish catch and an Otter was calling as it swam across the lake. Unfortunately, I've not yet come across a Yellow-bellied Flycatcher or Connecticut Warbler, but there are a few more days left in this week to search.
