11-10-2012 Radnor Lake Davidson Co. While searching for a calling Hermit Thrush, a lovely male Purple Finch flew out and landed in the sunshine. Never found the thrush. New waterfowl since I was there on Wednesday included 4 American Wigeon and one Bufflehead. The male Gadwalls were displaying at close range at the east end of the lake. They fluffed out their head feathers and threw back their heads jerkily while making a high pitched squeal note, over and over again. The females weren't impressed. Jan Shaw Nashville, TN
