September 19, 2004 Saturday the 18th was fall bird count day for the Greeneville Chapter of TOS. Our tabulation is set for Sunday the 19th, so I don't yet have results. However, I can report that I logged 78 species during the count, with highlights being the following: Cattle Egret (one bird has been present at Wal-Mart Distribution Center since at least mid-August and was still there for the count); Osprey (4--3 at Kinser Park, 1 at Jones Bridge); Eurasian Collared-Dove (the three birds that have been at West Greene High School since at least late July were still there); Red-headed Woodpecker (5 on Green Road); Swainson's Thrush (on Brown's Bridge Road); Philadelphia Vireo (at Kinser Park); Wilson's Warbler (immature male on Brown's Bridge Road); Summer Tanager (at Kinser Park).
