I have seen the Pewee (we think it is an Eastern Wood) 4 out of the last 6 days
(including today). I did not see it yesterday and almost gave up today but then
I saw it at 4:50 PM just before I left the area. I then can back at 5:30 and it
was still on the bridge feeding on insects in the air when I left as it was
getting dark.
I will probably not check on it tomorrow as a lot of rain is expected. This
weekend will be the last weekend until the first of February I can show it if
interested. I am a ssuming it will stay around until very cold temperatures but
it could be gone tomorrow for all I know. Actually I am thinking it may spend
the entire winter here as it has already blown the late date record for the
state out of the water. I do not know if it can survive a week of very cold
temperatures as I would not think there would be any flying insects if we have
extreme cold. Phoebes do stay here year around and I thought they mostly if not
entirely feed on insects. Others may know about this than I do.
