8 Apr Musick's Campground S. Holston Lake, Sullivan Co. Wallace Coffey has already mentioned the 4 Am. White Pelicans that we observed today. also present: Blue-wg. Teal - 20 Bufflehead - 2 Red-br. Merganser - 48 Com. Loon - 26 (breeding plumage) Pied-billed Grebe - 12 Horned Grebe - 2 (1 in breeding plumage) Dbl-cr. Cormorant - 17 Bald Eagle - 1 im. Am. Coot - 10 Bonaparte's Gull - 220 (most in breeding plumage) Ring-billed Gull - 120 We watched the eagle make repeated swoops at the small flock of coots, which would panic-dive as it neared. The eagle seemed to ignore a slightly larger flock of mergansers just a few yards from the coots. Maybe coots taste better or, more likely, are easier to catch. ################### Rick Knight Johnson City, TN rknight@xxxxxxxxxxxxx =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation.
