This morning, my mother, Zack Barrow, and I took off to try for the Pacific Loons found by John Henderson and Dan Jacobson at B.T Washington SP yesterday. We arrived around 11AM. Taking a quick scan of the lake (from the first parking lot as you drive in), we saw 8 to 10 COMMON GOLDENEYES, plus many BUFFLEHEAD and 6 RUDDY DUCK. We then moved over to the boat dock/boat ramp area where we met up with Carol Fegarido and Bill and Betty Wampler. They had seen a Pacific Loon about a half hour prior, but had moved off of it to continue scanning the lake. They quickly refound both of the loons and we all had great looks. At one point one of the Pacific's swam directly in front of a Common Loon giving us awesome comparison between the two. I was very excited, as PALO is a Life Bird for me!!!! We stayed until 12:45 photographing the loons and scanning for anything else interesting. There were at least 6 HORNED GREBES as well as 30+ LESSER SCAUP with a single male REDHEAD in a very tight raft. If anyone is interested I have a couple of poor quality photos (digiscoped from long-distance) and a short video (sorry for the shaky video, the loon was so far away you had to have it at 60x to get a decent look, making it very shaky) of the Pacific Loons here: http://s259.photobucket.com/albums/hh281/featherbrain1/PALO/ Good Birding!
