TN-birders,
Dollyann and I made our 3rd trip to the lookout sight to the north of
Cherokee Dam to try to re-find the Pacific Loon that was reported from
there a week ago.
We eventually found it with a single Common Loon way over on the far bank
of the lake. It was notably smaller than the nearby Common Loon and had a
smaller beak, different head profile, and no dark half collar.
All this was with great viewing conditions and our scope up to 60x.
After getting home and consulting Google Maps, the sighting was in
Jefferson Co.
